Pedestrian Passes Away from Collision with Semi-Truck Veering Off Road

3D Images Helped Secure $2.5 Million Verdict

A man was stopped on the side of the road when his car needed repair, and he was struck by the right-side mirror of a semi-truck. The vehicle was not following the curvature of the road, and it veered over the fog line, right into decedent’s path. Attorney Nathan S. Morris, of Eisenberg, Cutt, Kendell & Olson, needed a presentation to clearly explain how dangerous it was for the driver of the truck to not adhere to the roadway along which the victim stood.

The visualization begins with an overhead view of the area where the incident occurred, and it represents both the appropriate path to follow along the road and the incorrect path of the driver. 3D progressive images are shown in order in to demonstrate how the truck driver could have easily avoided this disastrous event by simply not just driving straight ahead, but instead paying attention to how the lane curved leftward. This scenario is shown from two different vantage points to impress upon the viewer how such a traumatic incident could have been prevented. The victim is not portrayed in these images so that the path of the vehicle can remain the primary focus.

Nathan S. Morris is an experienced trial attorney with a diverse personal injury practice and a background that includes both plaintiffs and defense work. He has recovered six and seven figures for his clients both in settlements and verdicts and in matters ranging from wrongful death and trucking accidents, to dram-shop claims and “bad-faith” claims. Nathan has been recognized for his professional excellence and dedication to his clients by Mountain States Super Lawyers and has been named to the Utah Business Magazine Legal Elite.

"3D Images can be just as effective as a full animation by showing, in a series of steps, how an event occurred. Our visuals allowed the attorney to focus on the key points of the incident in order to emphasize the negligence of the driver."
