2015 CAOC President, Brian Chase and Attorney Scott Ritsema of Bisnar | Chase, contacted DK Global for visual support while representing the family of a 2 year-old who suffered from avoidable chemical burns to his mouth, esophagus, and stomach. The team created a series of detailed Medical Animations that provided viewer’s an in-depth perspective of three complex surgeries and the significant damages involved in this case. Through a systematic process that includes intense fact assessment and the extensive review of the patient’s operative reports, the attorneys were provided with authentic animations of each procedure that the young child endured. Upon viewing the animations, the defense begrudgingly agreed to a $6.25 Million Settlement, providing hope for a child whose life was forever altered. Brian Chase and Scott Ritsema were named 2012 Consumer Attorneys of the Year by the Consumer Attorneys of California, a professional association for plaintiff attorneys.
In the video below, the child undergoes an esophageal dilation, in which a pediatric endoscope is inserted through the mouth and down the throat in order to locate and widen the stricture in the esophagus and further detect additional damage. With select camera angles, the viewer is oriented and then guided through the procedure, and given the ability to easily comprehend the procedure.
