While walking in a crosswalk, a 58 year-old woman was struck by a vehicle. She suffered a right ankle fracture, requiring fixation with metal plates and screws. The fracture caused chronic gait problems that resulted in a serious injury to her left knee. The plaintiff was represented by one of Berkeley, California’s leading personal injury lawyers, Attorney Susie Injijian. Ms. Injijian contacted Michael Caldwell for a consultation for a visual presentation that would help combat the controversial claim that the incident was not responsible for the left knee injury. Michael developed a visual strategy to show the defense how strong the case would be if brought to trial. The project scope that he created included a customized character model of the woman that focused on the leg and ankle, and a colorized radiology study to identify internal fractures. Using medical imagery and reports from the treating physician, the presentation would also depict the woman’s subsequent mobility and stability issues. The team at DK Global produced a 3D animated video that dynamically illustrates the severity of the woman’s injuries and required corrective procedure. Thereafter, the presentation displays how the fracture led to the chronic gait problems, which in turn, caused injury to her left knee. The animation successfully combated the defense’s argument. Despite the plaintiff's relatively modest medical expenses and absence of wage loss, attorney Injijian obtained a very favorable settlement in the amount of $400,000 for her client. |
