SoCal Attorney Cory Weck Secures Justice for Bicyclist

Voice Enhancement Helps to Identify Liability

Attorney Cory Weck, of McCune Wright Arevalo, secured a $436,000 verdict for a bicyclist who sustained injuries to the wrist and hip when hit by a driver who failed to yield before making a right-hand turn.

At the time of the incident, the defendant made a call to 9-1-1 operators and admitted to making the turn and striking the bicyclist. Later, however, the defendant denied making the turn and claimed that the bicyclist was at fault. The defendant’s insurance company refused to acknowledge the plaintiff’s claim.

The phone conversation between the defendant and the 9-1-1 operator was a key component in the trial, but the audio recording was very low quality and, therefore, difficult to understand. Attorney Weck commissioned DK Global to adjust the audio for clarity and add captions so that the jury could clearly understand the contents of the call. As a result, the phone call was able to clarify who was at fault and ultimately led the jury to award the plaintiff a $436,000 verdict.

Attorney Cory Weck, a partner at McCune Wright Arevalo, LLP, is a leading trial lawyer in the Inland Empire.
