Florida attorney Joe "Jody" Harrison Wade II, of Law Offices of Ron Sholes, P.A. reached out to DK Global when representing a 47-year-old man who was struck head-on by a van. Persisting lower back pain due to the incident kept the Plaintiff up at night, limited his ability to be involved in athletic hobbies, and made something as simple as driving, a challenging task. Despite taking conservative measures to ease the pain, including physical therapy, chiropractic care, and medication treatment, spinal injections were ultimately needed to help alleviate some of his pain. DK Global’s team was entrusted with creating a presentation which explained and illustrated the cervical steroid injection procedure.

The presentation begins with a transparent 3D male model with highlighted areas defining the locations of the needed injections. Next, the animation transitions into an axial view depicting a herniated disc. A lateral view then illustrates the client’s spinal stenosis. With a 3D character model in a surgical room, the visual uses a transparent neck to depict the needle being injected into the epidural space. The medication is shown traveling through the spinal cord as the inflamed nerves decrease in swelling. The same process is shown for the bilateral facet injections at L3-L4, L4-L5, and L5-S1.

This case went to trial last spring in Jacksonville, FL. Despite policy limits of $50k, which were not offered until deep into litigation, the jury brought back a verdict of more than $559k. A great success for a non-surgical case with 25 years of prior neck and back pain complaints, which was able to be distinguished with the assistance of DK Global's animation. After the trial, the case settled for $850k thanks in part to an expired proposal for settlement.
